Now the rain has stopped and the cyclone season has passed its time to think about yurts again. We made a yurt last year and had just reached the fine tuning stage when the wet season and its accompanying mold forced us to dismantle it. We've since made a raised wooden floor to stand it on. The next step is to decide what type of windows we want.
The photo shows how we hope our yurt will look. This project began like many others by taking a book out of the library.

This week I've just completed Cert 111 Library/Information Services. So I'm looking forward to a bit of leisure time without feeling guilt about assignments waiting to be done.
Though I'm 'oldschool' and would rather read a book or newspaper than look at a screen, I realise it's inevitable that I have to be dragged into the 21st century. I intend to take advantage of the positive things the web has to offer and it will be interesting to see what I've been missing.
The Learning 2.0 programme sounds like a painless way to ease myself into blogs and the world of the web. I mainly use the Internet for study, as an encyclopedia and a minimal amount of communication. My children and younger work colleagues all have blogs, but it has always been a bit of a mystery.
At least now when someone mentions the word blog I won't have to give a feeble smile and try to change the subject.
